Welcome Back! Here are a few tips for the fall semester:

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) would like to welcome everyone back to campus! Remember that traffic to, from, and on campus will be heavier than normal when school begins.

Vehicle pollution and traffic congestion not your thing? Try one of our Green on the Go programs:

Fast. Convenient. Affordable. Environmentally friendly. With Zipcar on campus, it just got easier to live without a car. Need a car? Borrow a Zipcar! For more information visit our Carshare page.

Share the ride with at least one person and you qualify as a UT carpool.
Carpools registered with PTS receive a parking permit discount and other benefits. PTS even has dedicated carpool spaces located throughout campus. Find out more and register online at our Carpool page.

Join a vanpool, let someone else do the driving, and get benefits similar to registered carpools.

Capital Metro Mainline Bus or UT Shuttle

Leave your car at home and let someone else do the driving. Find out what the buzz is about and join the 30,000 UT faculty, staff, and students who take transit to and from campus daily.

If you need help finding the right route and schedule for your commute, try Capital Metro's App.

Walking or Biking to Campus

Enjoy the health benefits of walking or biking to campus and learn more about UT bike services at the BikeUT page.

Fall Bike Auction

The PTS Fall Bike Auction will be Thursday, November 17, 2016. This is a silent auction of over 200 bicycles. Check back for details and images of the bicycles to be auctioned at the BikeUT webpage.

My Parking Profile

No need to stand in line at the garage offices; you can go online and make your permit purchases and clear any outstanding citations via My Parking Profile. You can access from work, home, or school 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Permits are not at any of the offices on campus and are mailed from our permit vendor directly to the address of your choice. You can even print out a temporary permit to use until your actual permit arrives in the mail.

Faculty/Staff Permit Availability

The following faculty/staff permit types are still available for purchase: A, B, M, N, and N+. See details on faculty/staff permit types.

Student Permit Availability

HCG Discounted Permits

The following student permit types are still available for purchase: B, C, C+, M, N, and N+. Student garage permits are available in Guadalupe (GUG), Manor (MAG), and Trinity (TRG) Garages. Garage permits for commuting students (students NOT living in university residence halls) are also available in the Health Center Garage (HCG). See details on permit types below.

Garage Permit Access Cards

If you've purchased a garage permit, you can go to any staffed garage office and have a temporary access card issued until your permanent card arrives.

All student garage permits will be hang tags from the rearview mirror. Once you receive your permit, detach the access card and use it at the card readers at the entrance and exits of each garage. You will only be allowed to use the official card that came with your permit.

Permit Waitlists

If you want a permit not listed as available, you may add your name to the waitlist. PTS allows only three active permit waitlist selections combined between all garage and surface waitlists. Make your selections through My Parking Profile.

Spaces for areas with a waitlist are filled only as permit holders leave. Spaces usually become available each month but the number of spaces that open up is unpredictable.

Changing or Upgrading Your Permit

If you have an "R" permit and Housing and Food relocated you to another dorm on campus after you purchased your "R" permit, send an email to garages@utexas.edu and we will see what we can do to assist you. If you have a "C" permit and want to upgrade to an "R" or "S" permit, send an email to garages@utexas.edu and someone will reply with instructions.

Non-Permit Parking

You can still park on campus even if you don't have a permit. Ten garages are available around campus for an hourly rate. You can also use meters and loading zones around campus for short-term parking. Meters require activation 24/7. You may park at a meter for up to 2 hours Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Weeknights after 5:45 p.m. and on weekends, you may purchase multiple hours. Loading zones are limited to 30 minutes and require your vehicle flashers on.
