Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) would like to wish everyone a happy holiday! Please read below for information regarding parking and transportation during final exams and winter break.
Parking restrictions will remain in effect on campus during the winter break. A valid UT permit or payment of fees is required to park. If you do not have a UT permit and need access to campus while the UT Shuttles are not in operation (see below), there is a Winter Break Permit you can purchase online for $10. Click on the "Campus Wide Parking" venue option and then choose the "Winter Break" parking option. This permit is valid from Dec. 19, 2019 through Jan. 13, 2020, and allows for parking in the Longhorn and "C" Lots. Note: Some lots may close for official university events.
Hours of Operation
With the exception of the Conference Center Garage (CCG) office, PTS and garage offices will be closed Dec. 21, 2019 through Jan. 5, 2020. The CCG office will be closed starting Dec. 21, 2019 and will reopen Dec. 27, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. All garages will be open for parking with regular daily or event rates applying during most of winter break.
Don't be late for finals or work. The UT Shuttles will be operating at reduced service levels for finals and winter break from Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 through Monday, Jan. 20, 2020. MOST SHUTTLE ROUTES DO NOT OPERATE during much of this period. UT Shuttles will resume full service levels starting Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020. See the Shuttle Service Level Calendar for more information. If you need to get to campus during this time, many Capital Metro routes follow existing UT Shuttle routes and provide access to main and PRC campus. E-Bus service has concluded for the fall semester and will resume Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020.
Sure Walk provides walking companions upon request between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. UT Night Rides provides a Lyft away from campus between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. The last night to request a Sure Walk or UT Night Ride for the fall semester is Dec. 18, 2019, with service resuming Jan. 17, 2020. Additionally, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Sure Walk and UT Night Rides will be closed the evening of Jan. 20, 2020 and resume service the evening of Jan. 21, 2020.
Be a proactive parker! If you leave your car unattended in a lot for days at a time, lock your doors. Leaving valuables visible from the outside of your vehicle is an invitation for burglary. Visit or move your vehicle occasionally.
To protect your bike over winter break:
- Take your bike home or store it inside at a secure location like a friend’s house.
- If you leave your bike on campus, make sure it is double-locked and parked on a UT designated bike rack.
- Register your bike online. It will improve the chances that you get your bike back if it is impounded, lost, or stolen, and it's FREE!
