This page has been updated to reflect the new date of Feb. 1, 2021 for the earliest UT Shuttle service will resume at full level.
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) would like to wish everyone a happy holiday! Please read below for information regarding parking and transportation on campus during final exams and the fall/winter breaks.
Current parking restrictions will remain in effect on campus during final exams and the fall/winter breaks. A valid UT permit or payment of fees at garages or meters is required to park. Students who do not have a UT permit and need access to campus between Nov. 25, 2020 and Jan. 13, 2021 can purchase a winter permit through My Parking Profile. See the Student Parking page for pricing. All permits are prorated daily for purchases and returns.
Garage offices will be closed Dec. 23, 2020 through Jan. 1, 2021. All garages will be open for parking with regular daily or event rates applying during most of the fall/winter breaks.
The last day of UT Shuttle service for the fall semester is Nov. 24, 2020. UT Shuttles will not resume full service levels until at least Feb. 1, 2021. See the Shuttle Service Level Calendar for more information. If you need to get to campus during the breaks, many Capital Metro routes follow existing UT Shuttle routes and provide access to main campus and the Pickle Research Center (PRC) campus.
Sure Walk provides walking companions upon request between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. UT Night Rides provides a Lyft away from campus between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m. The last night to request a Sure Walk before the Thanksgiving holiday is Nov. 24 (ending at 2 a.m. Nov. 25). After the holiday, Sure Walk will resume service Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. The last night to request a Sure Walk for the fall semester is Dec. 16 (ending at 2 a.m. Dec. 17). UT Night Rides will not have a break in service this year and will continue to operate through the holiday and fall/winter breaks.
Be a proactive parker. If you leave your car unattended in a lot or garage for days at a time, lock your doors. Leaving valuables visible from the outside of your vehicle is an invitation for burglary. Visit or move your vehicle occasionally.
To protect your bike over the fall/winter breaks:
- Take your bike home or store it inside at a secure location.
- If you leave your bike on campus, make sure it is double-locked and parked on a UT designated bike rack.
- Register your bike online. Registering will improve the chances that you get your bike back if it is impounded, lost, or stolen, and registration is FREE.
If you are leaving your car for the holidays, please remember that there is a home football game Friday, November 27, 2020. Most campus lots, streets, and several garages require vehicles to relocate to avoid towing and citations. For more information, see Home Football Game Parking Disruptions for November 27, 2020.
