Student fall parking permit renewals, purchases, and deadlines

With summer parking permits expiring August 16, 2022, permit renewals, lotteries, and open sales for the fall will begin soon. Parking options to help serve students who will need a permit as well as those who will only be bringing their vehicle to campus occasionally are listed below.

Garage Permits

Students qualify for an R (resident student) or S (student commuter) permit, depending on if they are dorm residents or non-dorm residents. Space in most garages is limited, so new permits are sold on a lottery system and include strict entry and payment deadlines.

  • Dorm Residents – After room assignments are made, typically mid-July, University Housing and Dining will send out emails with information on how to enter the R Permit Lottery. If you miss the lottery deadlines, remaining garage permits will go on sale August 10.
  • Non-Dorm Residents – If you are a current S permit holder, you will be able to renew your permit online beginning July 6 through July 22. If you miss the renewal deadline or if you did not have a previous S permit and want one, you can enter the S Permit Lottery beginning July 19. If you miss the lottery, remaining garage permits will go on sale August 10.

Surface and Hybrid Permits

C and C+ Permits - Those purchasing C and C+ permits (surface lot, and surface lot and evening garage) should note that numerous lots east of I-35 have closed for construction. For guaranteed parking, purchase a garage permit. The East Campus Garage (ECG) is the lowest cost garage permit, with a convenient Route 641 (East Campus) shuttle stop nearby and free bike storage for permit holders. Students can purchase and renew C and C+ permits online through My Parking Profile beginning on August 10. These permits do not have a renewal deadline and can be purchased any time for a pro-rated price.

All other permits - Students can purchase and renew D, D+, M, N, and N+ (ADA, Motorcycle, and evening/weekend) permits online through My Parking Profile beginning on August 10. These permits do not have a renewal deadline and can be purchased any time for a pro-rated price.

For instructions on how to purchase and renew permits, see Student Permit Renewal & Purchase Instructions.

License Plate Registration

Permit holders must register their license plate through My Parking Profile. License plate registration will be used to determine permit status. Enforcement will be by license plate only. There is no permit to display. Permit holders may register up to three vehicles, but only one registered plate can be parked on campus at any given time. Permit holders are responsible for keeping their registered plates current through My Parking Profile. Failure to register a license plate may result in citations.

Parking Without a Permit

Non-dorm residents who will only be parking on campus occasionally this fall and do not need a permit can use the Student Parking Perks program for low-cost occasional garage parking. All students also have the option to park in a garage at a rate based on the amount of time parked.
