General Permit Renewal Information

Permits can be renewed online through My Parking Profile.

Renewal Instructions

  1. Select the Cars section/tab.
  2. Scroll down to Future Year Permits.
  3. Select the permit to renew (BUY button). Please be aware that multiple permits will appear. Verify you selected the correct permit before completing purchase.

After completing your renewal, you should receive your new permit at the address of your choice in mid-August. The new permit becomes valid on August 19, 2020.

Address Information

To ensure your permit is mailed to the correct address go to My Parking Profile, and select the "Contact Profile" section/tab. Under the Addresses section, make sure the address you would like your permit mailed to is listed. You will need to be able to receive your permit at this address in mid-August. You can update your address information through UT Direct’s Address Change.

Vehicle Registration

Please check your license plate registrations and update them as necessary. You may register up to three vehicles, but only one registered plate can be parked on campus at any given time. Failure to register your plate may result in citations.

If You Have Citations

You will not be able to renew your permit until all outstanding citations are paid.

M Permit Renewals

If you have an M permit (motorcycle/moped) in addition to an A, AN, AN+, C, C+, D, D+, F, O, or S car permit please renew your car permit first. Once your car permit has been renewed, your M permit can be renewed at no cost.

Permit Costs

Parking and Transportation Services is a self-funded department that receives no funds for parking from the university or the state. Fees are collected for all those who park on campus to help cover the costs associated with providing parking. Permit prices are set by the Parking and Traffic Policy Committee. Prices for permits that are valid for the fall semester only have been adjusted for the new November 25, 2020 expiration date. For student permit prices, see Student Parking. For faculty/staff permit prices, see Faculty/Staff Parking

Additional Information for Faculty/Staff

Renewals Not Required to Maintain Space

You have the option not to renew your permit to maintain a space in a lot or garage for the fall semester. If you choose not to renew at this time, you will still be able to renew for the spring.

If You Miss the Renewal Deadline

Faculty and staff permit holders who miss the renewal deadline can email parking@utexas.edu for information on how to renew.

Waitlisting for a New Location

If you wish to park in a different location, please renew your current permit and enter the waitlist for the desired location. Click on the Waitlist tab in your Parking Profile, where you can manage your selections or view your current waitlist status. You may waitlist for up to two locations at a time. For additional waitlist information, see the F Permit Waitlist page.

Retirees

If you have a university appointment that includes any amount of financial compensation, you do not qualify for the retiree permit rate. Retirees who qualify can renew online at the retiree rate. If we do not have your retirement documentation and you are still showing the full rate, email parking@utexas.edu with your name, EID and retirement status.

Payment Options

Payments may be made with American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. There is no service charge for using this option. You may also elect to add your permit to your "What I Owe" page, which allows for e-checks and the use of financial aid (if allowed by your financial aid criteria). If you use "What I Owe" as a payment method, you must pay the full parking balance before the start of the fall semester. Failure to pay may result in forfeiture of the permit, a financial bar, or both.
