Campus Traffic and Parking Disruptions (April 12); towing to be enforced

This Saturday, April 12 will mark the 15th annual Longhorn Run, a campus tradition that has united students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Austin community since 2010. With over 8,000 participants, the race offers 5K and 10K courses that start on the UT campus and wind through both campus and the surrounding areas. This year, due to changes in the course route, the impact to parking and traffic will be more significant than in previous years. To help you plan ahead and avoid any disruptions, please be aware of the following parking and traffic restrictions:

Parking Restrictions and Towing

All vehicles, including motorcycles and University vehicles, must be removed from the locations listed below no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Any vehicles that have not relocated by this time will be subject to relocation at the vehicle operator’s expense.

  • 21st St. between University Ave. and San Jacinto Blvd.
  • San Jacinto Blvd. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Dean Keeton St.
  • Speedway between 24th St. and 27th St.
  • Whitis Ave. between 24th St. and 27th St.
  • 24th St. between Whitis Ave. and Speedway

These areas will remain restricted until 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12.

Street Closures

On Saturday, April 12, beginning at 6 a.m., the following streets will be inaccessible. As the race progresses, streets will reopen on a rolling basis, with all roads expected to be open by 11 a.m. Keep in mind that if you park within these closures, you may not be able to access your surface lot or garage during the race.

  • 21st St. between University Ave. and San Jacinto Blvd.
  • University Ave. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and 27th St.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. between University Ave. and Robert Dedman Dr.
  • Robert Dedman Dr. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and DeLoss Dodds Way
  • DeLoss Dodds Way between Robert Dedman Dr. and San Jacinto Blvd.
  • San Jacinto Blvd. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Dean Keeton St.
  • Dean Keeton St. between San Jacinto Blvd. and Whitis Ave.
  • Speedway between 24th St. and 30th St.
  • 27th St. between Speedway and Whitis Ave.
  • Whitis Ave. between 27th St. and 24th St.
  • 24th St. between Whitis Ave. and San Jacinto Blvd.
  • Wichita St. between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and 27th St.

Please note: These closures are subject to change at the discretion of safety and traffic control.

Garage Restrictions

On Saturday, April 12 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., the following garages will be affected:

  • Manor Garage – The level 1 entrance and exit on Robert Dedman Dr. will be unavailable. Access to the garage will be available through level 4 on Clyde Littlefield Dr.
  • San Jacinto Garage – The level 1 entrance and exit on San Jacinto Blvd. will be unavailable. Access to the garage will be available through level 3 on Trinity St.
  • Brazos Garage – Access restricted
  • 27th Street Garage – Access restricted
  • Speedway Garage – Access restricted

Permit holders in access-restricted garages will receive relocation options in a separate email.
