Campus Traffic and Parking Disruptions (May 8-10)

The University will host its 142nd Commencement ceremonies from Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10. Please review the information below and plan ahead, as major congestion and delays are expected for all individuals traveling to, from, or through campus during Commencement.
Commencement Parking
May 2, 2025
Parking in designated areas on campus is free to graduates and guests attending Commencement celebrations. Garages and lots frequently reach capacity during Commencement events. Guests are encouraged to have backup parking plans in other garages or lots should the recommended garages be at capacity.

Each spring, our campus has the privilege of welcoming student-athletes from across the state for the UIL Track & Field State Meet—a celebrated tradition that brings energy, pride, and thousands of visitors to the Forty Acres. This year’s meet will take place Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. As we prepare to host the state’s best, please take note of the following impacts to parking and traffic in the area.
Parking and Traffic Updates on Inner Campus Dr. (April 25)

On Friday, April 25, the University will observe UT Remembers, a cherished tradition that members of The University of Texas at Austin community who have passed away in the past year. As the campus gathers in reflection, there will be temporary impacts to parking and traffic near the Main Building (MAI) and Tower, including along Inner Campus Drive (ICD).

This Saturday, April 12 will mark the 15th annual Longhorn Run, a campus tradition that has united students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Austin community since 2010. This year, due to changes in the course route, the impact to parking and traffic will be more significant than in previous years. To help you plan ahead and avoid any disruptions, please be aware of the following parking and traffic restrictions:
Pay Off Citations with Donations
April 1, 2025
Donations for Citations is a program that allows those with qualified parking citations to pay them off through donations of shelf-stable food and unscented baby wipes. All donations will go to the UT Outpost food pantry for students and the Child Development Center for children.
CapMetro August 2025 Service Changes
March 27, 2025
The proposed major service changes for August 2025 include combining UT Shuttle Routes 670 Crossing Place & 671 North Riverside, extending Route 483 Night Owl Riverside to the airport and minor schedule adjustments. If approved by the CapMetro Board, these changes will start on Sunday, August 17 with Route 483 Night Owl Riverside adjustments starting Monday, August 18.

The 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays will be held at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium at the University of Texas at Austin March 26 - 29. Please expect extra congestion on campus during this period.
