Visitor Parking

The University of Texas at Austin welcomes hundreds of visitors to campus each day. Parents, friends of the University, official guests, conference attendees, and vendors all play a vital role in supporting our schools, facilities, and services.

Parking on Main Campus

There is no free visitor parking on the main campus, except for short-term use of designated loading zones.

For general parking, visitors should use University parking garages.

  • No permit is required.
  • Simply pull a ticket when entering the garage and pay at the exit gate. Most gates accept credit and debit cards; some may also accept cash.
  • Fees are based on the duration of your stay.

Garage parking offers the most convenient access to all areas of campus for visitors.

Surface Lots and Street Parking

  • All surface lots and street parking on campus require a specific University permit from 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Outside these hours, most spaces require any valid University permit. Some may be open to vehicles without a permit.
  • Important: Always read signage carefully. Each lot has entrance signs, and additional restrictions may be posted within the lot.

Parking Meters

Visitors may also park at University-operated meters located throughout campus. Meters are intended for short-term parking and are enforced according to posted times.

See the Parking Meters page for more information.

J.J. Pickle Research Campus (PRC) Parking

Visitor parking is available at both PRC and West Pickle Research Building (WPR). Please see our PRC & WPR Visitor Parking page for details.

Reminder: To ensure a smooth visit, all guests are expected to follow the University’s Parking & Traffic Regulations when bringing a vehicle to campus.
