As a new academic year gets underway, the Forty Acres will come alive Sunday evening for Gone to Texas, the University’s annual celebration welcoming a new class to campus.
To support the celebration, the following road closures will be in effect:
- Inner Campus Drive (ICD): Closed to vehicle traffic from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23.
- 21st Street: Closed between Guadalupe Street and Speedway from 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23, through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24.
Gone to Texas is one of the University’s most cherished traditions and the official kickoff to the Longhorn journey for the Class of 2030 and other new students. Throughout the afternoon and evening, colleges and schools across campus will host welcome events leading up to the University-wide celebration at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Mall. There, University leadership will officially welcome new Longhorns and celebrate the beginning of their journey on the Forty Acres.
We appreciate your patience as we help ensure a safe and festive environment in welcoming the newest members of the Longhorn family.
