Pedal Proud, Longhorns! Celebrate Cycling on Campus
Join us for Bike to UT Day on Wednesday, April 1, and help us celebrate the riders who keep UT moving while reducing pollution and congestion.
Stop by Gregory Gym Plaza on main campus, or the Commons Event Center and Café at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for free food and giveaways for registered cyclists (while supplies last). You can also connect with campus and community partners and learn about cycling resources.

Scoot Smart: Ride Safely on Campus
Electric scooters are a quick and popular way to get around campus. When used thoughtfully, they help keep everyone moving. To make sure scooters work well for riders and pedestrians alike, please keep these Scoot Smart tips in mind:
- Ride responsibly: Follow traffic laws, ride at safe speeds, stop at stop signs and signals, and yield to pedestrians around you.
- Use bike lanes: Scooters belong on designated paths and should never be ridden on sidewalks.
- Park properly: Park scooters in designated areas or near bike racks. Be sure sidewalks, ramps, building entrances, and ADA access points remain clear.
- No devices in buildings: For safety reasons, micromobility devices are not allowed inside campus buildings. This includes e-bikes, e-scooters, and skateboards.
- Obey speed zones: Some areas of campus are designated speed-governed zones to enhance safety and reduce congestion.
- Register your scooter: Registration helps police return lost or stolen scooters, deters theft, and allows PTS to contact you if your scooter needs to be moved. It’s quick and free!
Scooters are an effective way to bridge the last mile of a commute. With heavy pedestrian traffic on campus, using them safely and responsibly is essential. Let’s work together to keep campus safe and accessible for everyone!

Get Around Campus and Beyond
PTS Connect is a van shuttle service operated by Parking and Transportation Services (PTS), designed to help you travel between key UT locations that are farther from main campus. While the name may be new to some, this is the same reliable service that has been connecting the UT community for the past few years, now with a clearer identity to make choosing the right option easier.
PTS Connect complements other transportation services you may already use. Here’s how they differ:
- PTS Connect: Operated by PTS using vans, this service runs on fixed routes and schedules, connecting key locations such as the Student Services Building, the J.J. Pickle Research Campus, and the Dell Pediatric Research Institute.
- UT Shuttle: Operated by CapMetro using buses, this service runs on fixed routes and schedules, serving main and west campus as well as popular student residential areas across the city.
- PTS Pickup: Also operated by PTS using carts and vans, this is an on-demand, campus-only service with no fixed routes or stops. It can be hailed like a cab within the service area during operating hours.
By distinguishing these services, we aim to make your commute more predictable and convenient, whether you’re heading across campus or beyond.
Look for PTS Connect vans and take advantage of this reliable way to travel between key UT locations.
