Nueces Garage Permits

I was charged twice for parking, how do I get a refund?

You may send an email to parking@utexas.edu. University Housing and Dining (UHD) processes the parking bills for Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) at the moment. We will contact our peers at UHD to get the issue resolved. PTS will respond to you with a resolution.

How do I get a Nueces Garage Permit?

The plans for the 2020-21 Academic School Year is for permits to be sold via the R Lottery Process which usually occurs in July. Those living in 2400 Nueces will be coded so they will be given preference for NUG.

I no longer need my Nueces Garage Permit. What do I do?

You will need to turn in your parking pass for the Nueces Garage to the front desk at 2400 Nueces. They will then contact PTS and UHD billing to cancel any bills. If a refund is due, PTS will process the refund.

Can I park my motorcycle/moped/scooter in Nueces Garage?

There are no motorcycle spaces at 2400 Nueces. For safety reasons, motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters are not allowed to drive past the garage gates/ gate arms. The closest designated spots for motorcycle/moped/scooter to park are at the motorcycle parking area on 24th Street between Guadalupe Blvd and Whitis. You will be required to purchase an M permit to park on campus.

Why is the gate broken?

The gate was broken because someone struck it with a vehicle. Sliding gates are site specific and we have not been able to locate a replacement gate. We are looking at replacing the sliding gate. We are also looking into adding gate arms as is the standard practice for all University of Texas Parking Garages. We expect the gate arms to be installed in June 2020.

How long does it take to fix the gate?

Contracting a vendor to fix the sliding gate has taken longer than anticipated. We are now looking into replacing the sliding gate. We anticipate to have a working sliding gate before the start of Fall 2020. We will also be installing gate arms in the coming weeks. Gate arms are what are used at all other University of Texas Parking Garages.

Are there plans to install a new gate?

Yes. We are working on replacing the sliding gates and installing gate arms seen at the other University of Texas Parking Garages. Sliding gates are notorious for breaking as well as allowing other vehicles into the garage that are not authorized.

Once the new gate arms are in, we will be working on swapping out the garage equipment so it runs on the same software system as all other university garages. This new hardware will allow us to program your toll tag to enter and exit the garage.

Will my current permit work with the new gate?

Yes. Your existing 2400 Nueces permit will continue to work until we swap out the gate equipment. At that time, we will set you up with a temporary NUG toll tag that will work through the end of your current lease agreement.
