Occasional Parking Program for Employees

The Occasional Parking Program (OPP) is a cost-effective alternative for staff and faculty who only need occasional access to University parking garages. This program offers significant savings compared to the regular daily rate and is ideal for those who don't park on campus every day.

Participants create an OPP account, add funds in advance, and simply scan a QR code to enter and exit garages.

Who is this program for?

This program is perfect for employees who:

  • Work a hybrid schedule and park fewer than three times per week
  • Usually use alternative transportation but occasionally drive to campus
  • Need to move between locations on campus during the day

Eligibility

You’re eligible if you:

If you have a UT EID, you can purchase and recharge your Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS online. If not, you’ll need to visit a staffed garage office.

Using Your Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS

To access garages using your DEBIT PASS, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Parking Portal via My Parking Profile.
  2. Select View Your Permits, then click on the active permit that starts with PE.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Print Permit to download your QR code.

You can download the QR code at any time. It does not expire.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Always scan your QR code when entering and exiting the garage—even if the gate is already open.
  • If your entries and exits don’t match, you may be charged a $15 re-synchronization fee.
  • Only one vehicle may be parked at a time using your DEBIT PASS QR code.

You can view your account balance and the last 30 days of use by selecting your PE permit under View Your Permits in your Parking Portal.

Reminders:

  • Do not pull a ticket or visit the cashier when using your DEBIT PASS.
  • Parking is available on a space-available basis only.
  • If CARD USE ONLY signs are illuminated or the garage is marked as full, your DEBIT PASS will not work there.
  • If your preferred garage is full, please try another participating location.
  • Your vehicle must be removed by midnight. Overnight parking is not permitted and will incur additional fees.
  • Access may be limited during special events.

Note: Toll tags cannot be used with DEBIT PASS accounts—you must use the QR code for garage access.

Accessible Parking

Persons issued parking credentials with the International Symbol of Access (ISA) can purchase parking when they arrive on campus by using the ParkMobile App or the ParkMobile website using the zone code 96121.

Parking can be purchased for use at any ADA or Special Accommodation space on a space-available basis. The cost is $5 per day, or the prevailing event parking rate during events.

Converting the Parking Perks Pass to the Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS

Employee Parking Perks users will need to convert to using the Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS to access garages. If you would like to convert your Parking Perks credits to Occasional Parking credits, email garages@utexas.edu.

We will move any balance you have on your Parking Perks account that is divisible by $5 to the new Occasional Parking Program account upon request. For any balances not divisible by $5, you will need to add credits at a staffed garage office to transfer them. We will email you the necessary credits to add should you need to do so.

Compromised Accounts

The funds placed on the Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS are non-refundable, and Parking and Transportation Services will only transfer a balance to a replacement Occasional Parking DEBIT PASS at the time the original account is reported as compromised. A $10 replacement fee will be charged to transfer funds. There is no fee to reprint or reclaim a QR code from the "Parking Perks" tab in My Parking Profile.
